Essential Equipment for Inclusive Emergency Preparedness
Having the right evacuation equipment isn’t just a precaution, it’s a necessity. During emergencies such as fires or natural disasters, lifts are often out of service, making stairwells the only route to safety. This presents a major challenge for anyone with a mobility impairment, including wheelchair users, the elderly and individuals recovering from injury or surgery.
Evac+Chairs provide a safe, reliable solution, empowering organisations to evacuate everyone quickly, securely and with dignity.
By equipping your premises with an Evac+Chair, you’re not only meeting legal requirement – you’re actively reducing risk, supporting business continuity and showing a genuine commitment to inclusivity and duty of care.

Evac+Bundles
When it comes to inclusive emergency preparedness, flexibility isn’t optional, it’s essential. The Evac+Bundle is a comprehensive evacuation solution tailored to meet a wide range of needs across any environment. Each Evac+Bundle can include an Evac+Chair and either a ProMove Sling, a ResQMat or a combination of all three, ensuring you’re prepared for every possibility.
For complete confidence, we also offer fully equipped bundles that include training and maintenance plans, providing you with the ultimate evacuation solution.
Investing in evacuation equipment is more than a safety measure, it’s a clear commitment to inclusivity, compliance and preparedness. With Evac+Chair, you’re not just ready for emergencies, you’re ready for everyone.

Know Your Evacuation Strategy
Simultaneous Evacuation
This is the most commonly used method and is suitable for buildings under 30 metres in height. It involves designating a safe refuge area where individuals with mobility impairments can wait for assistance. Once the evacuation is complete, trained personnel can return to assist.
Phased Evacuation
This approach prioritises the immediate evacuation of those at greatest risk. It involves a coordinated response, initiated only when necessary. Individuals not in immediate danger, should remain alert and await further instruction before beginning their evacuation.
Progressive Horizontal Evacuation
Also known as PHE, involves moving individuals away from immediate danger in a horizontal direction on the same floor. They are relocated through a fire-resistant barrier into a designated refuge area, allowing the evacuation to be carried out in stages, if necessary.
Staged Evacuation
Staged evacuation is similar to phased evacuation and involves guiding people out in a controlled, step-by-step manner. This method is particularly effective in high-occupancy buildings, helping to prevent congestion and ensure an orderly evacuation, minimising the risk of delays, injuries or fatalities.
Book A Complimentary Evacuation Assessment
Ensuring you have the correct Evac+Chair for your building and personnel is essential, especially with a wide range of options available. Whether your building has multiple staircases or unique features, we’re here to help you find the perfect fit.
With over 16 million disabled people in the UK – more than 4.8 million of whom are in employment – every workplace and public space must be equipped to support the safe evacuation of all individuals.
To support our customers, we offer complimentary evacuation assessments conducted by our nationwide team of specialists. These experts assess the specific needs of employees, existing PEEPs (Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans), review GEEPS (General Emergency Evacuation Plans), building requirements and stair configuration – all of which help determine the most suitable Evac+Chair model for your needs.
Booking your evacuation assessment is simple. Just contact us by clicking the button below, calling us on +44 (0) 121 706 7644 or email enquiries@evacchair.co.uk and one of our friendly team members will reach out to arrange a convenient time.
Alternatively, you can use our online Evac Xpert™ to easily identify the model that best suits your needs. Where multiple staircases exist within your organisation, we strongly recommend a complimentary Evacuation Assessment to guarantee the right Evac+Chair at every stairwell – ensuring maximum safety, swift evacuation and peace of mind for your entire organisation.
