Evac+Chair brings evacuation training to the Chinese market

Friday, August 02, 2013

Birmingham-based Evac+Chair International, UK manufacturer of the Evac+Chair, has made an important trip overseas to China to raise awareness of emergency evacuation equipment.

Evac+Chair International worked alongside newly appointed distributor, Jian Quan Medical Equipment Inc, to put together demonstrations designed specifically to educate the Chinese market.  Practical sessions took place at the Shanghai International exhibition on Public Safety & Security, held at the Shanghai World Expo Centre where Evac+Chair provided expert knowledge of evacuation procedures to both businesses and non-domestic users in order to highlight the importance of life-saving evacuation equipment and prior preparation.

In one of the largest cities in the world, the need for the market to be fully prepared to evacuate in the event of an emergency is all the more important. With China prone to natural disaster and the density of people working and inhabiting particular areas, it is vital to occupational safety that all employees and non-domestic users of evacuation equipment are provided with the most effective set of tools to evacuate any situation safely.

By teaming up with the Shanghai Fire Service and senior managers in the health sector, Evac+Chair International was also able to conduct specialist emergency evacuation demonstrations to hospitals, as well as community outreach days where the evacuation chairs was used for practical sessions by the general public to improve levels of evacuation knowledge.

Paul Colder, head of export at Evac+Chair International, said: “Since appointing Jian Quan as our distributor, it became clear that there was a huge opportunity amongst the Chinese market to build upon the limited evacuation knowledge of not only businesses and business decision-makers but civilians as well. Conducting practical sessions and presentations with the assistance of the local fire protection association, helped us demonstrate how easily the Evac+Chair can be used and that evacuation planning need not be such a daunting task.

Paul Colder added: “In high population areas such as Shanghai, efficient and effective evacuation procedures and equipment will play a fundamental part in getting people out of buildings safely should disaster strike.”
